Buckle up! It's 2014.

As we say goodbye to 2013 and welcome in 2014, people everywhere are taking stock of the last twelve months.

Each year Mister Husband asks me what New Year’s Resolutions am I going to make.

Each year I tell him I am not making any.

I understand the symbolism of starting off on a clean page for the New Year but I don’t see the point in waiting till then.

If you want to do something, or make a change, just go ahead and do it.

And I try to keep it realistic.

So this year I have decided I am going to be happy.  I am not going to sweat the small stuff.
I am going to practice mindfulness and try not to take Mister Husband for granted.

I am going to work hard at not shouting at the boys so much.

I have also decided I am going to reduce my time spent on social media.

Again.  I did this last year and it was great.

It is such a time suck.

Have a look at this clip showing how much we allow our mobile phones to take over.

2013 was a good year as far as good goes and I am looking forward to seeing what 2014 has in store.

Happy New Year to you all wherever you are.

  2. I couldn't agree with you more. I made that decision about reducing social media time last year and it made such a positive difference. I buy internet access by the month and each time it's up I leave a few days to a week go by before I top up again, it works really well for me. I still don't allow Facebook notifications to go to my phone eventhough I have returned to Facebook. Hope 2014 is a happy one for you.

    1. I see my small kids absolutely glued to their Nintendo games and I fear for their future.
