As we say goodbye to 2013 and welcome in 2014, people
everywhere are taking stock of the last twelve months.
Each year Mister Husband asks me
what New Year’s Resolutions am I going to make.
Each year I tell him I am not making any.
I understand the symbolism of
starting off on a clean page for the New Year but I don’t see the point in
waiting till then.
If you want to do something, or make
a change, just go ahead and do it.
And I try to keep it realistic.
So this year I have decided I am
going to be happy. I am not going to
sweat the small stuff.
I am going to
practice mindfulness and try not to take Mister Husband for granted.
I am going to work hard at not
shouting at the boys so much.
I have also decided I am going to
reduce my time spent on social media.
Again. I did this last year and it was great.
It is such a time suck.
Have a look at this clip showing how
much we allow our mobile phones to take over.
2013 was a good year as far as good goes and I am looking forward to seeing what 2014 has in store.
Happy New Year to you all wherever you are.
I like your plans - they're my kind of resolutions. Good luck with it and happy 2014
ReplyDeleteI'm probably just taking the lazy option :)
DeleteI couldn't agree with you more. I made that decision about reducing social media time last year and it made such a positive difference. I buy internet access by the month and each time it's up I leave a few days to a week go by before I top up again, it works really well for me. I still don't allow Facebook notifications to go to my phone eventhough I have returned to Facebook. Hope 2014 is a happy one for you.
ReplyDeleteI see my small kids absolutely glued to their Nintendo games and I fear for their future.
